Thomas Boutens (°ca 1982) is a Flemish national-socialist militant from Buggenhout. In his youth, he was part of a small satanic cult.1 In 1999, Boutens set fire to his own school, causing major damage.2 Later, he became a member of the Flemish branch of Blood and Honor.3 Boutens was charged twice for his role in fights. Despite these issues, he was able to join the Belgian army.4

Boutens and his associates set up the Blood, Soil, Honor and Loyalty Network [BBET; Bloed, Bodem, Eer en Trouw] in the early 2000s.5 He recruited several fellow soldiers and started organizing training.6 Boutens also established extensive contacts with national-socialist groups from the Netherlands.7 On Sep. 04, 2006, Boutens was apprehended as police rolled up the BBET during a series of raids across Belgium.8 He was released after a few months while awaiting trial. Despite his legal problems, Boutens was arrested on four different occasions over the next years. He was apprehended three times for brawling at parties.9 In one instance, Boutens injured a police officer who tried to break up a fight.10

At the same time, Boutens continued his national-socialist activism. Over time, he became affiliated with the Netherlands-based Ulfhednar Group.11 On Oct. 18, 2011, Dutch police arrested Boutens and several associates as they intercepted their car while transporting weapons in Heerhugowaard.12

In February 2014, Boutens was sentenced to five years in prison for his role in the BBET’s activities.13 He was not taken into custody however and subsequently went into hiding.14 Police arrested him on Jul. 04, 2014 in the Limburg province.15
